What's The Benefit Of An Electric Bike?

An E-Bike is a normal bicycle with assistance provided via an electric motor in the bottom bracket and a rechargeable battery. They are distinctly different from a motorbike as there is no throttle and the motor will only provide assistance when you pedal. If you stop pedaling the motor will also stop providing assistance. Power output is limited to 250 watts and speed limited to 25 km/h. As they are classified as a normal bicycle no registration, license or insurance are required.

E-Bikes provide some great benefits for people interested in commuting to cut down on costs as prices rise while avoiding traffic congestion. All without turning up a sweaty mess and having to deal with a change of clothes.

Probably the biggest benefit you’ll notice straight away with an E-Bike is the ease with which you can climb hills, but the obvious ability to ride further and explore more with less effort is also a big advantage. Doing the groceries or carrying extra cargo is a breeze with the extra power provided by the motor.

For mountain bikers who ride for the descent the climb back up is often a pain. Getting to the top of the descent in a fraction of the time it would usually take allows you to get in many more runs and forget about the need for a shuttle vehicle.
