Bicycles for Humanity began in September 2005 with the simple aim of enabling people to raise funds and collect unwanted bicycles to send to reliable partners in developing countries.
In developing countries, Bicycles for Humanity, in partnership with organizations in that country, provides resources and support to make the process accountable and efficient. In developing countries, it works at the grassroots level to ensure that disadvantaged people are empowered through improved access to food and water, employment, healthcare, education and social opportunities.
To make this worthwhile cause even more successful, Bicycle Superstore were approached and asked to be a collection point for donated bikes, to which we happily agreed. With your support we have helped send over 500 bikes to developing countries, including a container load that was sent to Namibia in June 2009.
If you’ve got an old bike, in working condition, that you don’t use, drop it into one of our stores. We’ll pass it on to the wonderful people at Bicycles for Humanity.
Bicycle Superstore is a proud supporter of Bicycle Victoria and its dedication to getting more people cycling more often.
To help keep you cycling, we have been appointed as the exclusive Mechanical Service Provider for both the Great Victorian Bike Ride and Around the Bay in a Day events which involves many, many hours of work by our talented and dedicated team.
Our commitment to Bicycle Victoria doesn’t stop there. Unlike some bicycle retailers we are happy to offer all Bicycle Victoria members a 10% discount on our extensive range of parts and accessories, anytime of the year. Just show your member’s card when you shop with us.
Our partnership with RACV began in 2009 when we signed on as a Show Your Card and Save program supporter. By using your RACV member card when you make a purchase, you’ll receive discounts off many of our bikes.
Bicycle Superstore are also very proud to have been selected by Melbourne’s new bike share program to ensure that all their “bikeshare bikes” are maintained in optimum riding condition.
Bicycle Superstore’s specially trained mechanics will be responsible for ensuring that some 600 bikes are regularly serviced and maintained, with particular emphasis to their overall safety.
“We are both thrilled and proud to be chosen as the exclusive mechanical service provider for the Melbourne Bike Share program.” said Nigel Letty, Managing Director Bicycle Superstore. “It is recognition of the fantastic work our very talented mechanical team does, not only for special events like the Great Victorian Bike Ride and Around the Bay in a Day, but all day, everyday for all our customers.”
