About Scott Addict 20 Disc 2018
The all NEW SCOTT Addict 20 Disc was redesigned from the ground up with those longer days in mind. With new geometry that is less focused on racing and more on enduring, the Addict 20 Disc will be your go to when you're looking to put the miles in, but at a fraction of the cost.
There are two different geometries for the Addict on-road bike. All RC models have the same well proven geometry as that of the Orica-SCOTT team bikes, while the others come with a less aggressive and more comfortable endurance geometry. So, if you wake up in the morning, stretch, strap on a heart rate monitor and go KOM hunting, the Addict RC family might be for you. However if getting out on the bike means that you’re going to be gone for hours, chewing up mile after mile in search of freedom, then perhaps the Addict’s more comfortable geometry is your go to. The beauty with the Addict family is that there is a lightweight and capable road bike for anyone and everyone.
The addict has been redesigned almost entirely in order to accommodate disc brakes while maintaining its main feature: a remarkably low weight. The frame sports a rear triangle and fork that have been designed from scratch, flat mount disc brake interfaces, increased tire clearance and modified cable routing which considers the latest trends in drivetrain technology.
Lightweight Frame: SCOTT engineers set out to design a disc verison of the Addict frame with the least possible weight addition which they achieved: the HMX Carbon model is a no-compromise disc brake frame that weighs in at 1305g, only 60g more than the rim-brake HMX counterpart.
Disc-Optimized Rear Triangle: The completely redesigned rear triangle features a flat mount disc brake interface. The diameter of the seatstays increases towards the dropouts in order to absorb the braking forces of the disc brakes that apply assymetrically. The bridge to mount the rear rim brake has been removed and improves the comfort characteristics of the frame. The chainstay length has been increased in order to improve shifting quality of Shimano drivetrains. The rear triangle also offers enough tire clearance to accomodate up to 28C tires.
Disc-Optimized Fork: The Addict Disc’s fork features a flat mount disc brake interface and has been designed to manage the assymetrical forces of disc brakes. Furthermore, the fork allows for internal brake cable routing and offers enough tire clearance to accomodate up to 28C tires.
Thru Axle Standard: Thru axles are designed to be as quick and easy to use as a regular quick release, while at the same time offering extra strength, stiffness and security. Wheels with thru axle closing mechanism offer unparalleled precision when it comes to positioning the disc brake within the brake system. Thanks to SCOTT’s propiertary thru axle technology with a pitch of 1.5mm wheel changes are almost as fast as with a normal QR.
