Evolap Carbon Technology: Scott's historic expertise of carbon engineering is just one element that allows them to create such light frames. Utilizing a mix of new high-end carbon fibers is an other. Their HMX-SL Spark frame utilizes the strongest and lightest filaments to date. Their choice of the most advanced carbon fibers is followed by intensive use of specific tools, like FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software, to map out the carbon lay-up. With their proprietary EvoLap-Technology, they can simulate different forces on a virtual frame model and adjust frame construction accordingly, this allows them to build highly technical frames.
Cross-Country Geometry: The platform enabled Scott to realize everything you could want from a modern full-suspension geometry-a slacker head angle for maximum stability, shorter chain stays for agile handling and lower stand over height/center of gravity for a more planted feel. They designed it with a low stack for an optimized race
fit and with a long reach with shorter stem options for the same fit and better handling. A steeper seat tube offers more balanced weight distribution and better power transfer. With a large number of riders and a wide range of uses in mind, they developed a no-compromises, high performance geometry- a modern interpretation of what progressive racers and riders need.
TwinLoc Suspension System: SCOTT TwinLoc Suspension was developed as a system with the goal of taming any trail, any time. Connecting fork, their patented NUDE shock platform and frame via TwinLoc allows them to work with suspension characteristics that allow you to adapt to multiple trail settings, all at the flick of a switch. Whereas most systems only increase low-speed compression in an effort to gain pedaling efficiency, TwinLoc allows Scott to not only change compression damping, but
also to change the spring curve dynamically altering the geometry of the bike. With TwinLoc, have one bike that is a climbing bike, a descending bike, and a perfect bike for everything in between, all at once.
Trunnion Mount: One key feature in realizing a high performing frame is Scott's Spark Trunnion mount. It enables them to create the shortest shock package possible and is key for realizing the most advanced frame construction in their history. The Spark has 165mm eye-to-eye shock length (like the old Spark), but with 7mm / 2mm (120 / 100) more shock travel. They engineered the entire shock construction upside-down, the bulky bits, and most of the weight sits “lower” on the bike, creating several benefits in terms of technical optimization for the frame. Thanks to the width of the trunnion mount, down tube, shock mount and main pivot integrate seamlessly, allowing thier fibers to reach their full potential.
Fox Nude DPS Shock: SCOTT’s patented TwinLoc is still the only system on the market to control damping and air volume to offer 3 distinct ride settings The FOX Nude DPS shock has 3 modes:
1. Descend: Full air volume, supple damping.
2. Traction Control: Reduced volume, travel and geometry change, increased damping
3. Lockout: Reduced Volume with locked out damping
